Me and Cak kartolo

Not an alcoholic, neither a workaholic. Not only a Nidjiholic, but I’m also a Kartoloholic! :D Yes, that’s a term mentioned by Galih, a friend of mine, right after watching Kartolo CS (Kartolo and Friends) last Saturday night, live at Engineering Faculty, University of Brawijaya, to define a person "addicted" to watch or listen to Kartolo’s play, just like each of us emoticon. Only one word can describe how their performance was: HILARIOUS!! emoticon

Hot Fuzz PosterIf you like comedies, especially "black comedies" like You Kill Me, or "European comedies" like Taxi, I think you’re gonna love this movie. Get prepared for having a stiff stomach because of laughter! emoticon But beware, you better don’t watch this movie along with underage children, ‘cause there are a lot of explicit violence. Disturbing scenes like in Final Destination also often appear, so I don’t think it would be suitable for you to watch this movie while having your meals, especially if you can’t stand watching them without having stomachache. emoticon

This movie tells you a story about a police officer in London who has wonderful achievements. Funny things happened after he was transferred to a village named Sanford, which had the lowest criminal rate in England. How does the officer deal with many strange customs he’d never seen in London? Just watch the movie.

Recommended! emoticon

Soundrenaline It’s been about three years since my last Soundrenaline –probably the biggest music event ever held in Indonesia, at least it’s what I think emoticon–. It was held in a couple cities, as always (since 2003, the 2nd Soundrenaline). I watched that concert in my hometown, Malang, with my friends. But the experience wasn’t as great as I had when I attended the same event a year before in Surabaya (not actually Surabaya though, but in Bumi Marinir, Gedangan, Sidoarjo). I think it was because of the venue here, which wasn’t as big as one at Surabaya.

In these last three years, I’ve felt some kinda hunger of a great music event that can give me some adrenaline rush, and a great satisfaction in music appreciating. I’ve been missing such rock music concert (although there’s not only rock musicians who perform in Soundrenaline). Because of many things, I just couldn’t attend the rock concerts held in these last three years. What a pity..

This year, I’m having a plan to go to Surabaya for Soundrenaline, along with my friends. August 5th is the exact date. I’m gonna feed my hunger of rock concert, I’m gonna water my thirst of hundred-thousand watts of powerful sound system. I’m gonna watch the concert after missing it for three straight years, even if I had to crawl over the hot mud flood to reach it (ouch, too hyperbolic I guess.. :D)

Watch out, Surabaya.. We will rock you!! Rock!

Tinky WinkyA senior Polish official has ordered psychologists to investigate whether the popular BBC TV show Teletubbies promotes a homosexual lifestyle.

The spokesperson for children’s rights in Poland, Ewa Sowinska, singled out Tinky Winky, the purple character with a triangular aerial on his head.

"I noticed he was carrying a woman’s handbag," she told a magazine. "At first, I didn’t realise he was a boy."

EU officials have criticised Polish government policy towards homosexuals.

Ms Sowinska wants the psychologists to make a recommendation about whether the children’s show should be broadcast on public television.

Poland’s authorities have recently initiated a series of moves to outlaw the promotion of homosexuality among the nation’s children.

Tinky Winky’s psychological evaluation is being treated fairly light-heartedly by many people here.

One radio station asked its listeners to vote for the most suspicious children’s show. Some e-mailed in, saying that Winnie the Pooh had only male friends.

Even Ms Sowinska has backtracked a little, insisting that she does not believe the Teletubbies is a threat to the nation’s children. But the evaluation is still going ahead and her office can recommend that the show should be taken off the air.

Poland was criticised recently after its education ministry announced plans to sack teachers who promote homosexuality.

Last month the European Union singled out Poland for criticism in its resolution condemning homophobia in the 27-member bloc.

Gamers logoOne of the annual events held in Electrical Engineering Department of Brawijaya University is Electrical Friendship Night (EFN). This event has been held since 2004. Last night (Saturday, May 26th, 2007) was the 4th EFN. The theme was "Together In Harmony".

As usual, the band Ntjep performed a unique entertaining act on the stage. Who is this Ntjep anyway? This band was formed on 2004, by Electrical Engineering students, especially the class of 2002 (a.k.a. Gamers). They don’t only focus on how to play music well, but how to entertain the spectators as well. The word "Ntjep" means plug in. But why they chose this word to be the band’s name, I think it is just not suitable to explain here.. Hehe.. emoticon

Ntjep has almost never been absent showing at every event held in Electrical Engineering Department, such as EFN, PONSEL closing ceremony, or the Elcomtel Expo. And they expected that the last night performance would be the last as degree students. Aamiin emoticon. In their performance last night, they brought to the spectators two songs that are quite popular in lower society, so they could easily interact with the spectators. Those songs are Mblebes (a Javanese campursari song) and Usai Sudah (originally sung by Kangen Band). Those songs are not typical of "college songs" actually, but Ntjep had made almost all spectators dissolved into the wave of fun.

Led by Sani the front man, each Ntjep’s personnel wore a bright yellow coloured wig and red t-shirt. From the moment they come on to the stage until they left, they had attracted most of the spectators to interact with the band. Here is the latest formation of Ntjep who brought down the heat last night:

Sani - lead vocal
Intan - additional vocal
Ucit - keyboard, checkpyez
Gentheng - keyboard, checkpyez
Garonk - rap vocal
Dayik - lead guitar
Kaes - guitar
Samid - bass
Chebby - percussion
Kikik - drum
Thanks to Ntjep for being brave to be different.. You were so impressive!! emoticon
